The new Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe has rolled on to showroom floors in the UK, aiming to unite the best of both the C-Class and E-Class through its design, driving experience and creature comforts.

It will initially be available in AMG Line, AMG Line Premium, AMG Line Premium Plus and Premier Edition specifications. The range of powertrains includes four-cylinder and six-cylinder petrol engines and a four-cylinder diesel – all with what Mercedes describes as "mild-hybrid technology". Plans are in the pipeline for a plug-in hybrid to follow at a later date.

Standard equipment on all models includes the 'Mercedes-Benz User Experience' (MBUX) infotainment system, making the CLE Coupe is the second vehicle to utilise the MBUX platform. The uprated system has enhanced Android compatibility for installation of selected third-party applications, and an enhanced implementation of the "Hey Mercedes" intelligent voice assistant. The system also supports wireless integration with compatible smartphones through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The CLE cabin has all the creature comforts, and more

Depending on specifications, models can feature 18-, 19- or 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, headlamps with adaptive highbeam assist, wireless device charging, blind spot assist, traffic sign assist, and a parking package with a reversing camera. A panoramic sliding sunroof and 17-speaker 3D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio can also be included.

Prices start from £46,605.

The dark Night rises

Maserati has unveiled a limited edition of its MC20 supercar dubbed 'Notte' - or 'Night' - that it says is "born to race on the track and bred to perform on the road". The exclusive, and limited, run of 50 units aims to combine sportiness and luxury through the embodiment of "the mystical and intense power of darkness", it adds. Powered by a V6 engine and aided by the design input of Maserati reference driver and former GT1 world champion, Andrea Bertolini, the Notte is painted in matte black. Ferrari's Stradale sets Fiorano on fire with record lap

Ferrari has announced the fastest lap record yet for a road car at its Fiorano racetrack, located near the Italian town of Maranello. The circuit is a private racetrack owned by the sportscar maker and is used for development and testing purposes. The start of the show was the 1030-cv SF90 XX Stradale, the new limited-series special based on the SF90 Stradale, and it clocked in a time of 1:17.309. Ferrari says this performance, which was recorded during tests at the SF90 XX Stradale media launch on the 16th of October 2023, represents a new record for homologated road cars. Homologation is the process by which a vehicle is certified to comply with the necessary technical and legal requirements to be roadworthy and safe for public use.
