Hennessey calls in the Exorcist
Texas-based hypercar manufacturer Hennessey Performance has rolled out a limited series upgrade of the Camaro ZL1. The Exorcist, or EXORCIST according to the firm's marketing, is the 'Final Edition' in a series of Exorcist models. It was first created in 2017 to 'slay the Dodge Demon', which is Hennessey's reference to the rival supercharged Dodge Challenger.
"Built...to slay the Dodge Demon"
In its standard form the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine rated at 650hp (485kw) and 650lb-ft (881Nm) of torque. With the addition of a heap of high-performance parts, including a larger supercharger, and a engine management software upgrade, this increases to 1,000hp (745Kw) and 966lb-ft (1309Nm) of torque. The company claims a 'jaw-dropping' performance of 0-60mph/0-100km/h in 2.1 seconds, and a top speed of 217mph (347km/h).
John Hennessey, company founder and CEO said: "Our comprehensive upgrade to the Camaro ZL1 is one of my all-time favorites. The chassis, suspension, and powerplant work seamlessly together, so all the driver experiences is raw, unbridled horsepower. There's nothing else like our Exorcist, so we're eager to share this special limited edition with fans of this iconic car before it's gone forever."
There is no list price yet from Hennessey, but considering the fact that the 30th Anniversary Edition Exorcist in 2021 retailed at the time for £97,000 (about $137,000), you'll need some deep pockets for this one.
