Classic 'plug and play' EV firm expands

A British company that engineers what it calls genuine "plug and play" solutions for classic car electric vehicle (EV) conversions is growing its global network of partners in the UK and Europe to bring more iconic vehicles back to live with its unique "drop in" conversion kits.

Electrogenic's expansions builds on the growth of a network that already includes numerous outfits in the US and Europe. New partner companies are provided with an extensive technical training course on the firm's range of EV powertrain packages that are created to easily fit into the existing architecture of a vehicle. The kit range includes powertrain options for a vehicles such as the Porsche 911, Land Rover Defender, and Jaguar E-Type.

The company's co-founder, Steve Drummond, said he was "delighted" that the installer network was growing. "The network is united by a desire to offer characterful, iconic machines a new lease of life...we can deliver our painstakingly developed EV conversion packages to greater numbers of customers around the globe – so more enthusiasts than ever before can convert much loved automotive icons to clean, dependable and sophisticated electric drive."

Partners now joining Electrogenic include UK-based Porsche specialists Stuttgart Legends, Land Rover specialists Cult4x4, and Bespoke Off-Road. In Europe, Dutch restoration and custom build specialist, Brooklyn Spares, joins the fold. The firm, based near Amsterdam, focuses on extending the life of Land Rovers and offers bespoke builds.

Electrogenic's kits are developed in-house by a team of automotive engineers, programmers and electrical experts. The firm also manufactures its own technology, including in-house designed software, printed circuit boards (PCBs) and digital dashboards, as well as bespoke Battery Management Systems and vehicle charging technology.

All drop-in kits drive through single speed, fixed ratio transmissions, and are capable of up to 6.6kW AC charging, as well as rapid CCS charging.

Drummond said: "These partnerships will enable us to offer our sector-leading technology more widely than ever before, helping more customers convert iconic models to electric drive, and enabling us to push the business on to the next level. And we're not stopping here, we'll be announcing partners for other territories in the coming weeks and months, so watch this space."

Ferrari's Stradale sets Fiorano on fire with record lap

Ferrari has announced the fastest lap record yet for a road car at its Fiorano racetrack, located near the Italian town of Maranello. The circuit is a private racetrack owned by the sportscar maker and is used for development and testing purposes. The start of the show was the 1030-cv SF90 XX Stradale, the new limited-series special based on the SF90 Stradale, and it clocked in a time of 1:17.309. Ferrari says this performance, which was recorded during tests at the SF90 XX Stradale media launch on the 16th of October 2023, represents a new record for homologated road cars. Homologation is the process by which a vehicle is certified to comply with the necessary technical and legal requirements to be roadworthy and safe for public use.
